I am a survivor
that is what I do
what my people for ages
have gone through
a small piece of land on fire
have seen acres in flames
this is nothing new
see the strength in my mom
my father takes pride in our name
you cannot take anything from me
the power is all mine
you believe a tent and bad food
will make my heart cold
ow what a small mind
my determination cannot be deterred
the sour taste of extremists screaming
only affects the rind
my soul cannot be touched
under stars and rubble I’ve slept
death does not scare us
structures might collapse
spirits maintain
free when you see me trapped
a refugee what you claim
meaningless while I learn and keep rising
you try to make me fall, aw shame
blessed
