we all watch
as our fellow humans suffer
we are like a big brother
watching over his siblings
forgot to be the keeper
am I truly my brother’s keeper
or only responsible for myself
omnipresence is live
satellites, cameras, action
the lines are open
push the button
decide on the next president,
the winner of the show
see the demonstrations, the drowning, the killing
as if we’re the ones in control
choosing who lives and who dies
little difference between action and inaction
leaving people to their fate
idleness is a stance you take
when tears start to roll
words written and shared
images make their way around
they speak to us
without making a sound
so we donate, our time, money and effort
put our hands together
reminded we are all human beings
looking after each other, is our call,
our duty
see its value, and it’s beauty
brothers and sisters of one big family
call them refugees, volunteers
all the same
we observe, reflect and make a change
something sparks the current
a connection is made
it starts with watching
turn it off
and jump on this train
