Killing the Depths of our Sea

water I see yet can, not comprehend
your beauty sacrificed
vastness and reach far beyond our grasp
a symbol of freedom and space
the depth of our being,
an ocean so deep
try to control
turned to a shallow shell of itself
land separation manifested
fortified mental construction of a border
barriers created division
a physical fence put up to fend off
people seeking protection, pushed back
obstruction of justices
easy to be blind
break unwritten rules for the unwanted
break laws to leave humanity at bay
a breathtaking blue sea
the essence of you and me
taking our breaths, deaths for all to witness
at a collective bottom
blood red filling up these killing fields
approved by millions of faces
abhorred by the flow of our tears
let the boats carry our hears back to Atlantis
all somebodies brought to Athena and beyond
ride the waves of our being
not simply riding the (current) tide
